to promote Social Behavioural Change and Healthy Lifestyles.

Masizame CYCC

Our Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC), which prior to 2016 was formerly registered as a ‘Shelter’, now provides an intensive residential care programme for 30 childrenwho have experienced trauma, and emotional or physical abuse. Importantly, Masizame CYCC is deemed as essential service (akin to hospitals and SAPS) and operates 24x7x365. Children are formally assessed by the Children’s Court to be CANE – Children who have been Abused, Neglected or Exploited and deemed in need of care and protection. Via a central admissions process, the Department of Social Development (DSD) determines the most suitable CYCC programme placement to meet the needs of the individual child.

Therapeutic Services – Their past experiences should not shape their future

Masizame CYCC provides an extensive assessment to determine the child’s emotional and developmental needs, then a therapeutic and developmental plan is then individually formulated for each child. Their healing is a journey, where the child’s readiness to accept ‘change’ in their own behavior’s determines the pace and outcome timelines. Our Multi-disciplined team of professionals, are getting smarter and incorporate best practice techniques and toolsets. Esoteric tools such Mindfulness, Kid’s Yoga, Ability Spotting, Dream-work and play stimulation are incorporated into our daily program.
